NOVEMBER is Political, Governmental Process Month
Since November is such a big political month in the US, and there are many things about the political and governmental processes I have been trying to make sense of, I thought I’d be a responsible citizen and a patriot and try to do some research to get my questions answered. I may come up with more questions than answers but there it is. I will endeavor to push on.
If anyone has any useful links to sites which can help shed light onto any of the gap-spaces in my knowledge base, please pass them on and I will post them.
Here is the short list of things I am grappling with:
- Propositions added onto a ballot at voting time, what do they mean, how do they get added?
- Why do states have such different ways of voting and can they be changed or standardized?
- The electorial College debate.
- Super delegates, what are they and do we really need them?
- Earmarks, what are they, are they really that bad, can the process be changed?
- Where do the prediction polls come from (i.e. the Gallup poll) and how can I vote, too?
I don’t know if I will get to all of these but I am going to try. I will tackle the questions in no particular order and I may just add more to the list. If you think something should be added, let me know and I will try to work on it. I am sure there are many bloggers out there trying to make sense of many of these same things, so the info may be redundant, but I wanted to do it myself, give it a go and see what I could come up with. I think it’s important and I am tired of leaving it up to the media to explain it all or trying to get a straight answer from politicians who would probably rather I stay uninformed and ignorant.
What do you think?…just a thought I caught flying by.
